Tayrona National Park - COLOMBIA

So after our immense trek to the lost city we decided to head to Tapatinga where we would have direct access to Tayrona National Park, where secluded paradise beaches could be found lining the Caribbean sea.

First things first, Tapatinga is known as a party place, and we had agreed with our whole group to meet that night after returning from our Trek. Me and Jo had made good friends with two German guys, Mark the loud inappropriate but very funny one and Fabian the cool and relaxed one. For ZE Germans they were pretty cool. So to our surprise our whole gang met us at our hostel and off we went to Pachamama restaurant to have a proper non trekking meal. We conveniently arrive in happy hour and order our cocktails in wait for our steaks that we have ordered.

Our steaks arrive, perfectly cooked (a real rarity in South America, rare = well done normally) and we all go silent as we enjoy our steaks immensely. We then hit the supposedly legendary nightlife and find ourselves in Sensations nightclub bopping the night away to Rhianna and all other sorts of shite music, suffice to say me and Jo did one as early as we could. But still great to see everyone from our trek out on the beers.

The next we head with sore heads to Tayrona, we had two options of getting there, 1 by 1 hour bus and 2 hour walk or finally 40 minute boat and no walk. We opted for two, which meant the 4 of us got to go on a speedboat with two 200 horspower engines. Waweeeeeeeeee as we head along the coast jumping over waves with dolphins in the distance, it was pretty cool and we got completely soaked.

We arrive at a secluded white perfect beach with crystal clear water, now we see what all the fuss is about, it really is paradise. We head to our accommodation, hammocks under a thatched roof and head off to watch the sunset.

The next day we head out and take a wonder to one of the other near by beaches, walking through mangroves with hundreds of blue crabs nesting in the mud. We hit the beach and go for a snorkel, but the sea is so rough that there seem to be no fish so we abandon the snorkelling and do the only thing left to do, chill out and sun bathe!!

The next day we head to another beach, the best we have seen so far, we collect a couple of coconuts and after an hour of trying to open them with a swiss army knife we finally get at the juice and flesh. It was worth it as we all say to ourselves that we could survive here only living on coconuts! Very Robinson Crusoe!

After three days we've had enough of paradise and head back to Tagenga for one more night before we head to Cartagena.
